My Hearts A Flutter!

Howdy Sminkers!

As promised I'm back to show you some more goodies from the Seasonal Catalogue (starting on 1st February) which I had at my Launch Party yesterday.

With Valentine's Day only a couple of weeks away, I decided that the Launch Party make and take should follow that theme, and it would be the perfect opportunity to show case a gorgeous new stamp set called Hearts a Flutter. Now the beauty of this stamp set is it also has matching framelits (Yay!!) so it makes putting together a card or project super easy. Then about a week ago, I saw this gorgeous card on Pinterest by Allison Ohran and thought it was just perfect so decided to CASE it.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term CASE it basically means to copy someone else's design. I have heard two versions of it, Copy And Share Everything plus Copy And Selectively Edit. Regardless of which version you use, if you do CASE a card and then share it on a blog or Facebook, it is always polite to give credit to the original designer. With that in mind click here if you would like to see Allison's card.

For my make and take I changed it ever so slightly, just to try and make it a bit more masculine as I knew most of my girls would be giving it to their hubby's. The great thing about this card is it doesn't have to be specifically used for Valentine's Day and would also be suitable for an anniversary or just to say 'I Love You". So here is the card we made yesterday.

While I was playing with the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits, I thought I would also replicate the card I saw in the Seasonal Catalogue. I did change it slightly but unfortunately you will have to wait until the Catalogue starts before you can see Stampin' Up!'s version. Until then here's mine.

So what do you think? Can you tell I'm a bit in love with the honeycomb embossing folder? On both cards I have also used the new colours of Coredinations cardstock, Pool Party and Primrose Petals. This cardstock is fabulous in that it isn't the same colour all the way through so by embossing it then giving it a light sand you can make the design really "pop" and give it a totally different look.

I also pinched another idea from the Seasonal Catalogue being a banner they had displayed on a photo frame. I couldn't find a frame in a similar colour so I decided to just put mine on a frame I had made up a few months back which has a Stampin' Up! logo on it to use for displays.

I can definitely see myself using this set heaps, in particular the little banners. These would look great on alot of different cards and projects. If you would like a copy of the new Seasonal Catalogue please contact me and I can arrange to drop one off or pop one in the post.

A big THANK YOU to all the lovely ladies who came along to the Launch Party yesterday and got their craft on. It was heaps of fun catching up with you all and I just can't wait to do it again soon. Congratulations to Laurilee and Sarah who won the door prizes and Joanne who won the online competition. I hope you love playing with your new toys.

Sneak Peek from Seasonal Catalogue - Swallowtail

Hi Sminkers....

Sorry I didn't get a post up yesterday, time just got away from me. I really hope you all had a wonderful Australia Day and spent it celebrating with your loved ones. We are really lucky to live in such an awesome country!

So anyway the other night I set about playing with a new butterfly stamp which is in the Seasonal Catalogue starting on February 1st. I love anything to do with butterflies, so was super excited when I saw this one. I did however under estimate the size of this beauty. I just love how it makes such a statement though and you really need very little else on the card apart from a sentiment.

When I set about making this card I had a friend in mind who also likes butterflies and Island Indigo from the 2011-2013 In Colour family. So I made another card slightly different which I will give to her when her birthday rolls around in a couple of months time. I won't post a picture of that one as I want to keep an element of surprise but below is the one I made for my Launch Party display. I inked up the stamp in Versamark and then in Island Indigo to enable it to stay wetter longer once stamped onto the cardstock. I then applied some Iridescent Ice embossing powder and hit it with the heat tool to add some sparkle. I just love how it wraps around the card and can't wait to experiment with different colours and layouts. What do you think? I would love to hear your comments. I will post some more sneak peek pictures of products from the Seasonal Catalogue in my post tomorrow. Until then enjoy the rest of your three day weekend!

Vintage Verses

Hey Sminkers...Happy Friday!!

I have some more creations to share with you today after another night of crafting. I made 3 cards all using sentiments from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Vintage Verses. I really LOVE this set too! Stampin' Up! sure have made it difficult to choose a freebie this year with 19 wonderful products on offer.  So the first card I made also incorporated some new items from the Seasonal Catalogue which starts on 1st February. Can you guess what they are?

Did you pick the Honeycomb Embossing Folder? Oh my! I just love this new product and the best thing is you can use it alone to add a bit of texture or cut up small pieces of Designer Series Paper to add some extra colour and it a fantastic way to use up some of those scraps! Now this one was quite time consuming but I am so happy with the end product. I'm secretly hoping for a matching punch to be released in the next catalogue to make creating these type of cards a bit easier. Now the next two cards are more masculine in nature as I have used colours from the Neutrals colour family. What do you think?

You may have noticed I have also used another new product called Natural Trim Ribbon which is also in the Seasonal Catalogue. This ribbon adds a really nice touch to masculine cards where you want something extra but nothing too frilly. It also goes well with the Linen Thread. I can see myself using this one alot!

So I have another night of craft planned in preparation of my Launch party on Sunday so will more than likely be back tomorrow to share my creations. If you don't pop by tomorrow I hope you and you family have a wonderful Australia Day...stay safe everyone!

Jumping into the World of Blogging...

I have been thinking about setting up a blog since becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and realising that almost all good crafters have one. So I started doing some research and well to be honest it just seemed out of my league. I'm what you would refer to as "technology challenged" in that my knowledge in computers is limited to turning it on and the basic operation. The blog idea was put on the backburner more times than I would like to admit but then New Year rolled around and I thought "hey let's give it a go". It hasn't been without its late nights and frustrations but here were are...my first blog.
So I hope you will come along on this journey with me as I share with you my creativity  and love of all things crafty. I can't guarantee I will know what I am doing or that it will be as fabulous as some of the other blogs out there but I'm determined to stick with it and try to have as much fun as I possibly can. So sign up for the email updates and come along for the ride...it should be a hoot!!
