Stampin' Up! Convention 2013

Hey Sminkers

Earlier in the week I returned from my first ever Stampin' Up! Convention and I have to say it was everything I imagined it would be and more! This year the Convention was held in beautiful Brisbane which meant I could delay winter that little bit longer by enjoying a few more sunny days.

My husband Stuart, our 4 year old Zac and my father Darryl came along for the ride and we enjoyed a family holiday in the days before Convention started, seeing the sights of Brisbane and visiting Australia Zoo and Seaworld.

By the time Wednesday evening came around I could barely contain myself! I had organised to head down to the Convention Centre with one of my team mates so we could register, pick up our Convention bags and start swapping. Now for those of you who aren't aware swapping is a big part of Convention. Basically demonstrators will create a card front or 3D project to 'swap' with other demonstrators. It's a lovely way to share your work, meet new people and gain some new ideas and inspiration. I started out making some bookmarks but once I go to about 30 I decided I needed a change and made some card fronts as well. Now silly me forgot to take a good picture of the bookmarks and I only have ones from the planning process but I will share them with you regardless and you should get the idea. Here are the pictures of my swaps.

The bag we received this year was just gorgeous! It was a white backpack with s silver mosaic pattern over it and it contained so many pockets and hidden compartments I can see myself getting heaps of use out of it. What do you think?

Inside our bags was a pile of goodies including two brand new stamp sets from the new catalogue which I can't show you just yet. We also had a name tag with lanyard, a Convention pin, a gorgeous pen, a Convention program, our make and takes and the current catalogues. We were a little disappointed not to get the new catalogue in our bags but this was short lived as we got a lovely surprise the next day.

So after exchanging about half of my swaps we headed back to the apartment ready for the next day to start. I'll tell you all about Day 1 in my next post. Until then take care and happy stamping!
